True Blood Season 5 Chat with Cat & Miss Vain
“Somebody That I Used To Know”
Cat: As my husband passed through the living room on his way to work, he caught a glance of Sam’s naked ass through his parted hospital robe. Because of Sam’s odd behavior I had to explain to him that it was Luna, a shapeshifter, who unintentionally transformed into her shapeshifting boyfriend while she was recovering from an attack by a murderous hate group who disguise themselves by wearing rubber Obama masks. He turns to me and says, “How can you take this show seriously?”.
Even though we love it, it’s easy to admit that TB has a ridiculous concept. It’s a group of actors with horrible fake accents who pretend to be vampires, werewolves, and fairies, among other things. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously. But the last two episodes have felt a little more ridiculous than usual to me. Obviously I love the supernatural element of TB…I wouldn’t watch it if it didn’t have vampires and werewolves. But sometimes it feels like it goes a little too far out there and the story line begins to seem chaotic. Are you feeling the same way? Or is it just TB as usual to you?
Miss Vain: Okay so…in regards to yours and your husbands question as to “How can we take this show seriously?” Okay, well hopefully I’m not going to offend anyone or start a controversy, but lately and especially after last weeks episode I have seriously reconsidered my ability to enjoy True Blood anymore. Seriously, to back up my feelings, I was actually writing Jamie during this episode and I told her that “I’m starting to hate True Blood. I don’t even like it anymore. It’s stupid and I’m so over it.” (She is one episode behind btw) At the end of watching last weeks episode when Lilith shows up, this is what Jamie messages me, “True Blood is fucking stupid.”
So it appears that it’s not just you and I Cat, but also our mutual friend and your co-blogger Jamie feels the same way. I’m not even sure I’ll watch it next season. As a fan of supernatural shows I can easily say that the writers on True Blood cannot even compare to the incredible writing on The Vampire Diaries tv show. We cannot even say that these episodes are loosely based on the books anymore. Seriously, the books and the tv show are like two different entities. Yes, you and I are feeling the same exact way, however my dislike for True Blood may be further advanced than your dislike. Lol.
Cat: Sookie’s “scared” act in the bathroom..worst performance ever. So the Band-aid Bandit is going to hunt her down now that they’re “connected”? I was thinking that he would be someone she already knew because that’s much more scandalous. And you know how I love a good scandal! What do you think about the direction of her story line so far this season?
Miss Vain: Honestly Cat, this was the most hokey and fake scene. It was as if I were in a haunted mansion during Halloween at a pumpkin patch where the “boogeyman” was the local youth at the church. That’s how believable and visually effective this scene was. Clearly, Sookie is overpaid for her “acting skills.” She looked constipated, not scared. According to an online source she got paid $75,000.00 for that episode, and I wasn’t convinced she was scared at all.
Cat: Bill’s suggestion to destroy the TB factories….what’s up with that? I wonder what his angle is. I can’t imagine that they are really going to allow the show’s favorite, William Compton, to become one of the bad guys.
Miss Vain: I agree, I was trying to find some kind of underlying meaning behind his behavior or even a wink to Eric to show he had some master plan that he was attempting to manipulate. However, I got nothing. I cannot imagine Alan Ball’s most prized Vampire Bill becoming a villain. It must be a set up for a later date to rescue him and Eric from these Lilith worshiping lunatics.
Miss Vain: Okay so, this will not come as a shock since you know me, but I must say that the highlight of tonight’s episode was the growly sex Alcide was having. Wow his body was incredibly sexy, and when Rikki had the nerve to say, “Just so you know, this doesn’t make me your girlfriend” (during growly sex) I wanted to say, “Yes, please, I’ll be your girlfriend.”
Cat: LOL! Yea, it was pretty hot even though I busted out laughing when he threw her on the bed and jumped in after her. I couldn’t help it. That’s fine with me if she doesn’t want to be Alcide’s woman. I don’t know why they are together anyways and I don’t know enough about her character to have an opinion one way or the other. I’ll be surprised if they last until the end of the season though.
Cat: Were you surprised when the old V’d-up wolf beat Alcide that badly?
Miss Vain: I found that scene to be unbelievable. So your telling me that had the pack not shown up that Alcide would be dead now?! I just cannot accept that even if the old werewolf on V juice was able to tackle Alcide to the ground, that the younger more robust and healthy growly beast of a man Alcide could NOT take him out?! Unacceptable. I don’t believe it. Once again that scene was another True Blood fail.
Cat: Another fail – The dialogue between Tara and Tracey at Fangtasia. Pam chaining her up in the basement was kind of cool, but the interaction between them at the bar was incredibly lame.
Miss Vain: Did you believe that those jerks that abducted Jessica would have been capable of holding her in that room, had she actually wanted to leave? I think she should have tore the roof off of that building if it meant for her to escape from their grasp.
Cat: I don’t know…I guess it’s possible. Remember in the very first season when Bill was captured by that couple in Merlotte’s? The other guys had to have been hiding out, waiting for her with silver. How they got her away from the club without anyone noticing is a bit of a mystery though. One thing I am interested in is the woman that was sniffed out at the hate groups’ hideout. I don’t remember exactly how she was described, but for some reason Hoyt’s momma came to mind..?
Cat: Thanks for chatting/complaining with me, Vain
If we’re still unhappy when the season ends, we’ll just have to pick another show. But now that I’m thinking on it, this may be the only one that we both watch LOL! Unless you’re a Boardwalk Empire fan…
Miss Vain: Oh Cat, I agree this might just be my last season watching True Blood….:( Well I wanted to watch Boardwalk Empire, why didn’t you make me watch it, like you forced enticed me into falling for Game of Thrones only to get my heart ripped out at the end of season 1?! LOL….I’ll never let you forget about GoT. LOL. How long have I been whinning about this to you? At least a year, I think….
Our Favorite Quotes:
Tara: “I thought you were mad.”
Pam: “You don’t know me that well. My mad face and my happy face are the same.”
Eric: “What are you doing?”
Bill: “Evolving.”
Cat will not be posting her True Talk post this week because she and Jamie have the Biting Cold Tour stop at their blog today, but click Here to visit their tour stop today!!:)
Truebies! I would love to know your thoughts on the second episode of True Blood . Favorite scenes? Funniest moments? Any disappointments? Feel free to leave a comment below. I love hearing from all of you! XOXO ♥

Ha! Love the photo of the Sharon Osbourne vamp
OMG!!!! No you did not just put your name as “Cat has Mad Dog Fever”!!!! Lmao I love that!!!. Okay so you are not alone because Jamie, Cimmaron and I love him too! It’s even gotten to the extreme that when Cimmaron text messages me it says I have a new text message from TRAVIS MADDOX LOL..and when I text her it says that Travis Maddox has a text waiting for her too. LOL.
So reading this cracked me up – because I think we (bestie and I) had this same exact conversation. I even feel the same way about Vamp. Diaries and I never like YA, but the writers for the show are doing such a fabulous job. TB writers…shit y’all are smokin’ some crack. Plot line..what plot line. I swear it reminds me of those adventure books – don’t know if you ever read those – but basically you got the end of the chapter and then picked an option … example – go to page 1 if you want Jane to jump off a cliff. go to page 20 if you want Jane to punch herself in the face. GAHHH seriously this is what the last couple of seasons feel like every episode is just a disaster! I used to love – truly – love this show. I did the TB Blog hop and all, but after this season I just don’t think I can continue to waist precious reading time on watching TB anymore. It makes me sad, but it is what it is.
However, I was so happy to finally get to see some Alcide. Yum.
And, the two Sams – WTH??! I swear If he kissed himself I would have died…..
Totally agree with everything you said Annie!
My favorite thing you said that had me LOL was the comment about had Sam kissed himself, OMG that would have been over the top hilarious, but surprisingly as over the top ridiculous as True Blood has become I’m surprised they didn’t try it. HAHAHAHA
I was shocked they didn’t but you know – CRACK – just sayin! Sam Trammell did nail the acting on that part though!
Aside from Alcide getting hungry and chomping that other were off, this episode was boring for me.
Totally agree! Couldn’t agree with you more Braine!!!
