Synopsis Revealed: The Golden Lily

 Calling All Richelle Mead Lovers

Title: The Golden Lily
Author: The Golden Lily
Series: Bloodlines #2
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: July 19, 2012

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she’s supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she’s been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

Okay so that synopsis has made me The Golden Lily sound simply irresistible. To those of us that have been fans from the beginning with Vampire Academy, does anyone else find themselves eager to have their suspicions confirmed as to who is the love “forbidden” to her?? Also true to Richelle Mead form, what’s a great series without a love triangle thrown in there…meet Brayden the cute brainy guy mentioned above……What do I say say about the upcoming love triangle in the making??? I say Bring It!!…..and let the love games begin…;)

What do you say about the upcoming love triangle in the making???

  1. Linda says:

Actually, I completely and totally loathe love triangles. If there is going to be one in this series, I’m glad to know it already and cut my losses after one book.

    • MissVain says:

      Oh Linda:)

I’m glad to hear from you, I’m sorry it’s under these circumstances.:( Well don’t take my word for it but that’s what it sounds like to me??..What do you think? Like with Cat and Bones I would hate a love triangle but lots series I find them enjoyable. Lol.

  2. Marulett says:

I can´t wait for this one!! I want to know what will happen with Adrian and Sydney…not want…need to know!!
I´m totally cool with the love triangles but I don´t like it when they drag it thru the hole series and at the very end the heroine makes the choice…but bring it on Mead!

And that cliffhanger with yummy Dimitri!!!! Please time go by fast!!!

    • MissVain says:

      Hi Marulett!

How are you? Long time no talk.;) Thanks for stopping by my blog to visit!;)

I also get tired of triangles that drag on and offer little value to the story, but this one sounds fun, I just hope Adrian isn’t strung on too hard because well he has suffered a lot in the past!! Lol…I’m with you, bring it Mead…and please spread a little Dimitri love my way..*sigh*

P.s. you should enter in my Book Boyfriend Hop contest below!;)

      XOXO

      • Marulett says:

Entered a little while ago….I couldn´t choose one so I went with my newest lit chrush, Christian Grey from the 50 shades series…it was a hard choice! LOL

        • MissVain says:

          Hi Marulett!!

Great to hear from you. ;) Yes, I have yet to meet r. Christian Grey but he’s on my soon to be acquainted read list. Hopefully sooner than later. ;) I’m anxious to see what all the Christian Grey fuss is about. ;)

  3. Linda says:

Oh, you know… a lot of people really enjoy love triangles. I think that most of the times, it takes something away from the actual plot and storyline, as the writer gets too tangled up in making the story about relationship drama instead of moving it forward with the characters actions in other subjects.

The only series where I thought the love triangle was actually well made was in the Hallowed series by Cynthia Hand. And the reason why it was well done was that it took the back-seat to the SL and main plot.

Also, some times, a triangle can make a series go on longer… and then I feel like I am being milked for money – what with the team X and team Y and fans taking sides because of a boy (because, usually there are two boys and a girl – and in the end, nobody cares about the girl, only who the hottest boy is).

If there was an interlooper between Cat and Bones, I would cry and stop reading for sure!

I’m not slamming either the author or the readers who enjoy love triangles, though, it’s just that they really don’t work for me.

      Hi Linda:)

I have yet to read Unearthly, but I plan too, so I can’t comment on it yet…..But I know of a series (I think you have read it) The Infernal Devices, wow that love triangle is so precious and special….even though I absolutely am in love with Will first, I love Jem as well…and well I’m probably the only person dreading the conclusion this year because well regardless of the Tessa chooses I’ll be devastated just because both boys are just so lovable! I just checked…you’ve read it, I knew you and I have discussed this series! Lol..

I agree, if Cat and Bones ever had a love triangle I would be done with Night Huntress and I’m pretty sure most would be as well. Ughhh just thinking about it makes me Ill….Lol.

Linda, I noticed you have Kindling of The Moon on your Tbr list, you should read it…I think you would love it. :)

P.s. did you enter my giveaway below??

      • Linda says:

I decided to go with two winners on that one in hopes that an international like you could win and then a domestic one here….but I didn’t know how it worked, and it picks the person for you. It’s pretty cool! ;)

          Thank you Linda!;)
Have a fantastic weekend too!!! ;)

I´m doing good though I´m dying with the high temperatures here in Argentina, thank God for AC! I want winter to come like NOW! How about you? I bet you´re having low temperatures over there right?

    • MissVain says:

      Hi Marulett:)

I forgot you were in Argentina, I was thinking you lived in Australia, (close enough, at least I got the A right) ;) Well its winter here but I love winter the most, but it’s been a hot winter here since I live in California…like in the 60′s Fahrenheit. :( I want some rain, I hate the heat!
